Pickering Station - Puzzle (500)

Pickering Station harks back to the wonderful steam era and sets the scene for this 1930s summer afternoon with 45407, a Black 5 locomotive known as the Lancashire Fusilier. The locomotive draws admiring glances from the public as the crew works tirelessly to keep the gleaming locomotive in top condition.

Number 45407 was built in 1937 and was part of the largest order ever placed by a British railroad company with a private builder, worth £2.7 million. Officially known as LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 45407, this locomotive was withdrawn from service on 4 August 1968. Pickering Station is part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and one of its highlights is its magnificent roof structure which has recently been rebuilt to the same design as the original, built in 1847 by G T Andrews.
