Each of the three eras is played on a different board:
- The first era, Mariners, includes exploration and development to Mars.
- In Planeteers, players settle in the outer solar system.
- In Starfarers, players send missions to nearby galaxies and establish interstellar colonies.

The game is based on the SpaceCorp book by Ejner Fulsang, the first of the Galactica series.
