Escape From Colditz is a semi-cooperative game where one player is the security officer of the German armed forces and the others are escape officers for various nationalities or prisoners of war. The escape officers try to obtain the equipment they need for a successful escape (rope, wire cutters, etc.), while the security officer tries to hinder them by placing them in solitary confinement and confiscating their equipment.

The game lasts a predetermined time or number of rounds. If an escape officer can free a predetermined number of POWs (usually 2) before that time, he wins. Otherwise, the security officer wins.

What is the difference between Escape from Colditz and Escape from Colditz (75th Anniversary Edition)?

Escape from Colditz was co-designed by Major PR Reid, a British soldier who was one of the few who successfully escaped from Colditz during World War II. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Major Pat Reid's escape from Colditz Castle during World War II, this is the definitive edition of an iconic game. Escape from Colditz was formerly released under the Parker brand. This edition from Osprey Games has received a complete visual overhaul by noted World War II artist Peter Dennis. It includes an extra large updated and improved game board, 56 wooden playing pieces, 100 fully illustrated cards, a 32 page history book and unique replicas of artifacts from the infamous prison. In this anniversary edition you will find both the original and updated rules.
